Abstract:

This paper gives an overall analysis of the impacts of the impacts of WTO membership on China's environment according to the final commitments China made for WTO accession. The study indicates that the overall effects of WTO entry on environment will be almost neutral. The structural effects, technological effects and product effects coming along with comprehensive trade liberalization will help release the pressure of pollution in China, but only to a very limited extent and the overall situation of pollution is still very serious.
