The interaction and coordination between monetary policy and banking supervision

Abstract:

From the macro point of view, the monetary policy and banking supervision and control have different characteristics in terms of economic cycle. The interaction between banking supervision and control and monetary policy is governed by the macro and system character of the risks of banking sector. As regards financial structure, the monetary policy and banking supervision and control tools interdependent with each other and there is also interdependence between the monetary supervision and control of the central bank and the supervision and control institutions of the Banking Regulatory Commission. With regard to operation, after the separation of monetary policy from banking supervision and control, the efficiency for policy making might be weakened and information sharing should be the precondition for the coordination of the two.
