On April 28-29, the 30th Annual Meeting of China-Japan Forum for Exchange of Economic Knowledge co-sponsored by DRC and Chongqing Municipal Government held in the city of Chongqing. Mr. Bo Xilai, Member of CPC Central Politburo and Secretary of CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, met with the Chinese and Japanese delegates. Mr. ZhangYutai, DRC President, and Mr. Huang Qifan, Mayor of Chongqing, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. Over 100 personalities attended the meeting. Chinese participants include Mr. Hou Yunchun, DRC Vice President, as well as senior experts and representatives from National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Commerce, People’s Bank of China, China Minmetals Corporation, Development and Reform Commission and Economic and Trade Commission of Chongqing Municipal Government, etc. Japanese Participants included Mr. Isamu Miyazaki, Former Minister of Economic Planning, Mr. Shinji Fukukawa, former Vice Minister of International Trade and Industry, as well as senior executive and experts from Tokyo Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance, Hitachi, Nippon Steel Corporation, Komatsu Ltd., Mizuho Corporate Bank, Sankyu Inc. and Japan-China Economic Association, etc. Both Chinese and Japanese delegates exchanged views on the current economic situation in the two countries and in the world, as well as on the topics such as Sino-Japanese economic and technological cooperation, and overall planning of urban and rural areas. In the hot discussions, they put forward their insights and suggestions.
