Abstract: The futures market is an important part of China’s multi-level capital market system, which plays a major role in providing pricing services for the real economy, promoting industrial transformation and supporting risk management. After the development over the past century, overseas futures markets have become full-fledged with rich experience, which provides good reference to China’s futures markets. This article has made in-depth analyses of the futures markets in countries and regions including the United States, the European Union and Singapore, focusing on summarizing the successful experience of developing legal systems, various tools and related services as well as market participants. To promote the opening-up, innovation and high-quality development of China’s futures market, efforts are needed to improve the listing mechanism of futures products and tools, promoting the over-the-counter market supervision system, enhancing financial derivatives and options tools, innovating types of contracts and trading mechanisms, shoring up the professional capabilities of risk management companies.
