Two 16-year-old girls in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, have missed school for more than a week because they don't want their hair chopped off.
Since the beginning of the new semester, the Dongqu High School, situated in the city's Luogang district, made it mandatory for all students, boys and girls, to sport crew cuts.
Xu Yanping and Qiu Haichang, grade three junior high students, are afraid they will be forced to cut off their hair if they go to school.
The girls' parents said the school should pay more attention to the students' education than their hairstyles.
