On March 23th, the delegation from School of Management, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand paid a visit to our GLMBA center. And it was our great honor to invite Dr.Paul Shen to give us a lecture on“Doing Business in China Particularly on the Legal and Business Aspects.
Dr.Paul Shen comes from Canada and he is a prominent lawyer. He majored in law in Peking University. In addition, his research interests include Chinese local and governmental politics, economy in different countries and so on.
At the beginning, Dr.Paul gave us an outline of today’s lecture, which covers China’s legal system, doing business and dispute resolution.
Then he shared some unique point of view. He held the view that China is a republic and socialist state and its future is linked to the world. When it came to rule of law in China, he believed that China has gradually adopted the western continental legal system. He reckoned that doing business in China is not impossible, but quality of judges needs improvements. Besides, China’s legal system is still young and it needs time and efforts to reach the kind of standard of justice similar to that of the more advanced countries. In his point view, it is paramount to foster good win-win relationship with countries all over the world.
The last but most attractive session, Dr Paul had a heated interaction with the MBA students. They exchanged ideas on China’s legal system and business. Dr Paul also shared his own experience to make the lecture more vivid and persuasive.
