It has been known that, at CUMBA (The Chinese University of Hong Kong), the school attaches much importance to its students participating in international business plan competitions to solidify classroom knowledge with real-world application and to find the “equilibrium” between innovative business ideas and viable plans. As MBA graduates are expected to become senior managers to lead and work with people of different cultures and different skill-sets to drive business plans, the school strongly encourages its students of varied cultural and professional backgrounds to form teams to participate in worldwide business plan competitions. By design, a CUMBA team member may also get to understand the dynamics of different business regions (represented by team members themselves), in addition to learning from each other their comparatively richer experiences in strategy, finance, advertising, HR and operations.
Between 2008 and 2009, with the guidance and strong support from the CUMBA faculty and staff, CUMBA students have formed teams and participated in many worldwide business plan competitions. Some are listed as follows:
