Located off the coast of south Haitan Island, Haitan Deity has been crowned as the Double Superb Rocks together with the Double-Sail Rock, another rare stone in Pingtan Island. The gray-white granite is in the shape of a human being, giving it its name of Haitian Deity.
Stretching from the beach to China's South Sea, Haitan Deity is 330m in length and 150m in width. Its lower part erects a weathered column-shaped rock, at a height of 4.15m and with a perimeter of 4.50m. The rock looks like a masculine statue and is worshipped by the coastal fishermen. It is said that women of local fishing families will be able to give birth to a baby boy at the touch of the erect stone.
Experiencing corrosion of sea wind and seawater for millions of years, Haitan Deity has been sculptured into the largest natural granite statue.
