The Nanchang Railway Bureau reports that the Xiangpu Railway will open, on Sept 26, with a trial run set for Sept 12, so that it will only take three and a quarter hours to get from the city of Fuzhou, Fujian province, to the city of Nanchang, Jiangxi province, and four hours, fifty minutes from the city of Xiamen to Nanchang.
The railway department says that, in addition to the train to Nanchang, there will be trains to Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Hankou, and North Sanming ready soon. And Xiamen will add trains to Nanchang, Jiujiang, Wuchang, and Hankou.
People will be asked via the internet to take part in the trial run and anyone who is interested can sign up for it.
The bureau’s plans call for tickets for first class seats on the Fuzhou to Nanchang run to be around 223 yuan ($36.1) and second class seats to cost about 186 yuan. First class seats from Xiamen to Nanchang will run around 288 yuan, while second class seats will cost a bit over 240 yuan.
