Boasting great mountains and clear waters, Hui'an in Quanzhou city, Fujian province, is home to a unique group of females that have romantic traditional clothes and quaint customs. These Hui ladies wear yellow bamboo hats, colorful headscarves, short blue shirts, pailform pants and silver waist chains.
The Hui outfits are so unique that they have become a promotional image for opening-up and tourism development in southern Fujian.
Quanzhou city is known as the starting point of the marine silk route and as an exhibition city of world religions. It uses its distinct features to promote tourism, extensively utilizing Hui clothing and folk traditions as well as its delicate Hui’an stone carvings. The city will also construct a Hui-lady themed Chongwu Ancient Town scenic spot, an Exhibition Park for Chongwu Stone Carvings, and a Hui-Lady Folk Park.
