Residents of Fujian province will be able to apply for travel passes to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan more conveniently, according to the provincial Public Security Bureau.

Starting on May 15, applicants, excluding government employees, will no longer be required to present materials explaining the purpose of their visit to the three destinations, said the bureau on Thursday.

Individual travel pass holders still must go to the local public security bureau for visa procedures before heading to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, the bureau added.

In the next stage, Fujian province will work on a self-service online visa endorsement for travel pass holders, the bureau said.
