Lin Nianxiu, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), and Zhang Zhinan, vice Fujian governor, visited the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ) on May 13 to inspect its construction efforts in a number of areas.
The pair and their entourage visited a customs checkpoint near Haixia Bridge and learnt about the customs management and Pingtan’s tax polices.
At a commodities market open to Taiwan, where it exempts taxes on Taiwan’s special products up to a 6,000 yuan ($961) limit every day, Lin said Pingtan should think forward and be a trailblazer on many fronts.
Lin also assigned subordinates to facilitate Pingtan’s construction of a Taiwan business incubator as well as a flood and tide prevention project, urging faster executive approval processes.
NDRC will be actively engaged in communication and coordination with Pingtan and will give its full support. As a pilot zone open to Taiwan, Pingtan should increase cultural and economic exchanges with Taiwan as well, said Lin.
