Universities and colleges in Fujian province will welcome about 230,000 new students with an admissions rate of 86.9 percent, Fjsen.com reported on Aug 25, citing figures from the provincial education examination authority.

A total of 222,000 high school graduates took the gaokao, the national college entrance exam, in June, and about 43,000 vocational college students took a provincial-level college entrance exam in January.

A total of 230,000 students were admitted; 130,000 will enter universities and colleges, and the rest will study in junior college in the province.

Key universities in the country will recruit 20,806 college freshmen in Fujian, 2,370 more then their original plan, the examination authority said.
