The first Pingtan International Urban Sculpture Exhibition is set for Oct 10 and 11, according to the local county planning bureau.

Dozens of well-known sculptors and artists from around the globe, and experts with some national arts organizations will participate in the two-day exhibition.

The exhibition, themed "Harmony, Development and Dream", will feature 48 master works which were selected from 1,242 entries over the past 15 months.

These exquisite items will be displayed and forever kept at a sculpture garden situated by the Zhuyu Lake in downtown Pingtan.

Seven of the sculptures, all made of stone, arrived in Pingtan on Sept 14 and are being assembled locally.

"The items are of a height of 4 meters in general, with a few ranging from 8 to 16 meters. Most of them weigh 20 to 30 tons. But there is one weighing 160 tons," said an official with the county planning bureau.
