China honors late PLA general

Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attends a gathering marking the 100th anniversary of Yang Chengwu's birth, in Beijing, capital of China, Oct. 27, 2014. Yang, born in 1914 in southeast China's Fujian Province, was deputy chief of general staff of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and deputy secretary general and member of the Central Military Commission (CMC). He was also vice chairman of the sixth National Committee of the CPPCC. Yang died in 2004 at the age of 90. (Xinhua/Pang Xinglei)
