Two Taiwan musicians give a concert in Xiamen

Two Taiwan musicians – Lin Tianji and Gu Xiaome – staged a concert on Nov 7th in Xiamen, Fujian province, with the support from the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra.

Rossini’s prelude of Semiramide, Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 and Beethoven’s Fate Symphony No. 5 were played in the concert.

Lin Tianji, student of the late conductor Henry Simon Mazer, is now the resident conductor of the Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra. Gu Xiaomei is the only Taiwan pianist who has received two doctor degrees from universities in Russia and the US.

It was the first time that the two musicians’ were in cooperation, a catalyst for the Cross-Straits Cultural Exchange.

Fate Symphony No. 5, Beethoven’s most famous and most played work, was presented in the second half of the concert.
