The guests toured some key institutions, enterprises and scenic spots to get a better understanding of Pingtan’s development.

At a customs checkpoint, Chen said he hoped the customs staff would keep up the hard work, explore innovation in customs supervision modes and strive to build Pingtan into a cross-Straits e-commerce hub.

He then visited TPK Pingtan, a subsidiary of Taiwan’s TPK Holdings, which is the world’s largest touch panel maker. Chen hoped the company would make more innovative efforts and strive to become a bigger presence.

Chen was impressed by Pingtan’s fine sand resources in coastal areas, and urged local officials to make better preservation of them.

At a market which sells duty-free Taiwan commodities, Chen talked with many Taiwanese merchants and hoped their businesses would boom.

ARATS will always support Pingtan’s development and promote it on various platforms. It hopes Pingtan will play a bigger role in cross-Straits communication and cooperation, he said.
