Fujian province officially established a chamber of commerce in Zhuhai city in South China’s Guangdong province on Dec 30.

The Chamber will be responsible for gathering Fujian's entrepreneurs, integrating business resources and promoting Min (Fujian) culture in a radius that encompasses Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

Besides boosting cooperation between Fujian and the three places, the Chamber will also strive to contribute to the prosperity and stability in those areas, said Yan Yi, Chairman of the Chamber.

Edmund Ho, vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and former Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), unveiled a plaque for the Chamber at its inauguration ceremony on Dec 30.

The Chamber signed credit extension agreements with 11 banks with an accrued volume of more than 60 billion yuan ($9.7 billion).

It also jointly held a seminar with local Party authorities in Zhuhai to discuss how to create more startup opportunities for young people.

Some 2,000 entrepreneur representatives attended the inauguration ceremony. A lineup of dignitaries also showed up, including Lei Chunmei, head of the Fujian United Front Work Department and Vice Chairman of Fujian CPPCC Committee, Qiao Wei, Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Yan Yanling, member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC, Sun Da, Secretary-general of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Cai Siping, Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Macao SAR, Qian Fangli, Chairman of Zhuhai CPPCC Committee, Chen Honghui, head of the Zhuhai United Front Work Department, Liu Jia, Party Secretary of the Hengqin New District and Wang Guangyuan, Chairman of the Fujian Association of Industry and Commerce.
