Moses Mosop from Kenya and Mare Dibaba from Ethiopia, who won the men and the women’s race, respectively, in the 2015 Xiamen International Marathon, which kicked off on Jan 3, both beat the event record for a second straight year.
Moses Mosop won the men’s race in 2:06:19. The time not only broke the event’s record, but also became the fastest-ever time for marathon races organized by the Chinese Athletics Association. Tilahun Regassa and Abrha Milaw of Ethiopia claimed second and third place, respectively.

Dibaba, who was crowned in the 2014 event, outraced her countrywomen Meseret Legesse and Mirriam Wangari, successfully retaining the title with a new record of 2:19:52.
