Taiwan's tariff authorities sent a delegation to Pingtan in Fujian province on Dec 23 to discuss matters concerning cooperation in cross-Straits express delivery by sea and cross-Straits e-commerce.
Pingtan is a perfect place for operating the cross-Straits express delivery, owing to its proximity to Taiwan, said Lin Jianglin, deputy director of Pingtan's administrative committee. She hoped that the customs and inspections authorities across the Straits could share information and be able to utilize each other’s data.
Taiwan's authority is bullish about the sea transportation for cross-Straits express deliveries. It is improving related facilities and striving to implement the mechanism sometime in 2015, said Wu Lixun, vice chairman of the Taiwan Tariff Association.
