An aquatic farm owner, surnamed Lin, found that imported shrimps weighing 1500 kilograms died from construction noise pollution in Xiamen, Fujian province, the Haixi Morning Post reported on Jan 7.
According to Lin, the shrimps were imported from Taiwan, and were expected to produce 1 billion young shrimps per day after the spring festival. However, the noise of a nearby construction site terrified the shrimps that need a quiet environment in which to grow, and eventually caused their death.
Although the constructor issued no response, the local government department has sent professionals to investigate the incident.
