In 2014, Hongtang Village in Haicang District was named in the top 10 most beautiful villages in China, which made it the only village in Fujian Province to win the title.

In the 2014 China’s Most Developed Tourist Cities rankings announced by Forbes, Xiamen ranked 18th, one position higher than that of 2013, and it is the only city in Fujian Province to make the list.
