The fifth session of the 9th Pingtan Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) began on Jan 20.

Liu Jianning, chairman of the CPPCC Pingtan Committee, delivered a work report on the Committee's performance in 2014 and outlined its goals for 2015.

As a political advisory body, the Committee has been paying attention to issues concerning people’s livelihoods and listening to their voices, and contributing to the cross-Straits communication and cooperation through its proposals, said Liu.

In 2015, the Committee will continue to offer political consultation and democratic supervision to contribute to the construction of the “Common Homeland” in Pingtan, he added.
