Train tickets from Fuzhou to some popular destinations for Feb 9 have sold out, Straits News reported, citing the railway station.

More specifically, tickets of ordinary trains bound for Chengdu, Xi’an, Wuchang and Zhengzhou and bullet train tickets to Wuhan and Zhengzhou are not available.

A travel peak hit over the weekend in Fuzhou as Spring Festival approaches. The Fuzhou Railway Station saw nearly 90,000 trips on Feb 7, many of which were taken by migrant workers.

About 80,000 passengers are estimated for Monday and Tuesday each, which is about 60 percent more than the normal level.

Starting Monday, the railway station will add five normal-speed trains on routes between Fuzhou and Guiyang, Dazhou, Chongqing and Nanchang. It will also add three bullet trains to Longyan, Xiamen and Wuhan.
