The signing ceremony of the strategic framework agreement on the construction of the Xiamen Ailu Elderly Care Center was held between the Xiamen Charity Federation and the Xiangyu Group on February 12.

The Xiamen government will offer nearly 10,000 square meters of free construction land in the Jianshan section of Huli District as a support for the construction of the Xiamen Ailu Elderly Care Center.

It is reported that the aging population accounts for 14% of the entire population in China, and the country is entering the advanced stage of an aging society. By the end of 2014, the registered residences of citizens over 60 reached 285,300 people in Xiamen, accounting for 14.22% of the entire population in the city. To cope with the situation, the local government has set up a goal to launch more than 35 nursing care beds for every 1,000 elderly people by the end of 2020.

With a total area of 40,300 square meters, the Xiamen Ailu Elderly Care Center will be located in the Jinshan section of HuLi District and will consist of two 16-story buildings, a 3-story attached building, and a basement. There will be a total of 850 beds for aging people after its opening, and it will be the biggest elderly center with the most beds in the city.
