You Quan, Party secretary of Fujian province, has pledged to enhance the poverty alleviation work in the future using Chinese President Xi Jinping's experience as an inspiration.

The essence of getting rid of poverty in Fujian, where there are nearly 2,000 poor villages, which makes the mission of realizing “an all-around well-off society” by 2020 an arduous task, is to effectively implement a series of the Party’s policies guiding the poverty-relief work, said You at a press session on the sidelines of the third session of the 12th National People’s Congress in Beijing on March 6.

Xi worked as the Party secretary of Ningde city, the least developed area in Fujian, from 1988 to 1991, when he developed a theory of poverty alleviation which is reflected in more than 20 articles he wrote with the cores being aiding the most underprivileged group first, sticking to the spirit of perseverance and compliance to the Party’s instruction and so on.

You also correlate the anti-poverty work to Fujian’s status quo by putting forward four suggestions. First is to have a good theory. Second is to draw up a plan in accordance with different situation of those poor villages. Third is to study specific policies to boost local industries. And the last is to highlight the power of local Party leadership.
