“It is our hope that the central government would release more favorable policies to promote major transportation projects in Longyan,” suggests Zhang Liansheng, NPC deputy and Party secretary of the Xi’an community of Xinluo district in Longyan, Fujian province, at a press conference held during the ongoing two sessions in Beijing on March 6.

Zhang noted that the government should grant financial allowance to support the road network construction of Longyan. “The standards should be equal to that in the Western district.”

Zhang pointed out that Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Fujian last year and presided over a military political work conference in Gutian town, a famous revolutionary base. Moreover, Zhang Dejiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau and chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, has visited Longyan twice to participate and guide “Mass Line” educational activities in Shanghang county.

“These meetings have not only helped promote Longyan’s image, but also brought vast opportunities and driving force to the economic and social development of the city,” Zhang said, adding that the cadres and grassroots sectors of Longyan are going all out to make the leap forward.
