The housing and urban-rural development bureau of Fujian province reports, on March 11, that it is beginning construction work on 387 affordable housing projects this year, with around 142,000 apartments units.

There will be 21,766 units in Fuzhou, the capital city of the province, alone, at a cost of 10.7 billion yuan ($6.7 billion).

That city's affordable housing plan calls for rental housing and renovation of shanty towns in the urban area and forest and land reclamation areas.
