Fujian steps up anti-graft fight

The Party disciplinary watchdog in Fujian province has sent six more investigation teams to four counties and two enterprises amid a heightened corruption crackdown, Strait News reported.

The move has put Party and government authorities of Yunxiao county, Nan’an city, Jianyang district and Xiapu county, together with the Fujian Ship Industry Group Co and the Fujian Branch of China Travel Service, under scrutiny for the next month.

Fujian has sent investigation teams to all nine prefectural cities and the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone this month, signifying its ruthless stance toward graft.

Zhang Zhongping, a deputy general manager at Fujian's Construction and Engineering Co, is suspected of having violated the law and is under investigation, according to a March 19 announcement.

The following day it was announced that vice Fujian governor Xu Gang was being investigated for alleged serious violation of Party discipline.
