Fictional hero Baymax painting in XMU

A male student in Xiamen University helped create a painting of Baymax in Furong Tunnel, the most artistic graffiti tunnel in China, as a birthday gift for his girlfriend

Baymax is a fictional character, a superhero in the Marvel Comics Universe who is featured in the smash-hit film Big Hero 6, a 2014 American 3D computer-animated superhero action comedy produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures.

It is the 54th film in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series and is inspired by the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. It hit Chinese screens in February and topped the China box office in its first full week of release, grossing $29.88 million.

Baymax became an overnight celebrity among Chinese moviegoers, especially females, with many saying they hope of having a boyfriend who can have a hug as warm as Baymax’s.

A male student in Xiamen University helped create a painting of Baymax in Furong Tunnel, the most artistic graffiti tunnel in China, as a birthday gift for his girlfriend.

The young lovers, both of whom are students of Xiamen University, started their painting at about 2 a.m. on March 19th, and the entire painting took them about 4 hours to complete.

The cute image of Baymax in the tunnel became a new tourist attraction, and most of the female students in the campus flocked to take a picture with it. The message of the cute Baymax in the tunnel spread like wild fire after images of it were circulated by Wechat users.

The Baymax picture was painted about 100 meters away from the entrance of the tunnel, which is near the Xiamen University campus.

Many Wechat users expressed their concern about the uncivilized behavior of some tourists in the tunnel that could damage the lovely painting, and they called for protection for the cute Baymax painting.

The Furong Tunnel at Xiamen University (Xià Dà Fúróng Suìdào, 厦大芙蓉隧道), a 1,000 m-long tunnel, is one of the most popular tourist attractions of the university, being famous for the numerous murals and paintings drawn on the white walls of the tunnel. The university dug the tunnel in 2005 to provide a shortcut for the students to go through the Shi Hill, or Lion Hill, to reach the main campus from their outlying dorms in the Zeng Cuo An area.
