A nationwide natural gas transmission project will begin construction on its Xiamen section in June and is scheduled for completion in 2018, according to the Xiamen Resources Gas Co Ltd.
The project, which transports natural gas from the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region’s Tarim Oil field to cities in 9 eastern provinces, will transport 461.64 million cubic meters of clean energy to factories, restaurants and households in Xiamen.
As one of the major civic projects in Xiamen, the total construction investment of the project is expected to reach 1.017 billion yuan ($164 million). Two natural gas stations will be built in the Haicang and Tong’an districts and the existing high pressure and medium pressure pipelines will be extended by 22.6km and 532.2km respectively.
