Vice mayor of Longyan city removed for disciplinary violations
After a meeting of the People's Congress of the city of Longyan, Fujian Province, on March 26, the city's vice-mayor, Chen Shengyi, was removed from office after being suspected of serious legal infractions.Now, according to a recently released statement of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, Chen is under investigation by the Zhangzhou Municipal People's Procuratorate for taking bribes.
China’s Criminal Procedure Law allows for various measures that include the use of force, surveillance, and detention among other things but the procuratorate did not specify what measures had been taken.
