A bicycle race will kick off on June 8 in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone in Fujian province, authorities said.
The Ocean Cup China (Pingtan) International Bicycle Open Tournament, which is to be held for the second straight year, will accept 1,500 participants aged 18 to 55.
The race’s organizers say they have obviously underestimated the public’s enthusiasm, as more than 1,000 people applied on April 1, the first day of the registration period. As of April 3, some 1,330 people have signed up.
The competition is divided into five groups according to sex and skill level.
The registration fee is 150 yuan for each group, and 20 yuan for every additional group.
