A delegation from the Revolutionary Committee Of The Chinese Kuomintang (KMT), led by its vice chairman Zheng Jianbang, visited the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ) on April 22-23 to improve cross-Straits ties.

Pingtan has done impressive work in infrastructure and economic development over the past few years, and the committee will assist it in realizing the goal of becoming a “Common Homeland” for people across the Taiwan Straits, said Zheng.

The KMT committee sent a team to investigate Pingtan earlier this year and made proposals to the central authorities regarding its development. It also intends to cooperate with Pingtan in communications between young people across the Taiwan Straits.

Pingtan hopes the committee can help Pingtan with cross-Straits financial integration and make cross-Straits travel more convenient, said Li Dejin, director of PCPZ’s administrative committee.
