You Quan, Party Secretary of Fujian province, led a delegation to Hong Kong on May 31 to boost relations, Southeast Express reports.

He met with members of the Hong Kong Federation of Fujian Associations (HKFFA), an organization composed of all grassroots associations set up by Fujianese in Hong Kong.

“On behalf of Fujian province and its 38 million people I give sincere greetings to you all. Visiting Fujian natives in Hong Kong is at the top of our agenda. And HKFFA is like home to all Fujianese, which is why we made it our first stop,” said You.

He spoke highly of HKFFA’s role of facilitating Fujianese in Hong Kong and contributing to the region’s economic and social progress, and called on members to invest in their hometowns.

“Fujian now faces a golden opportunity of development with enormous market potential. We always value cooperation with Hong Kong and expect it to deepen, especially in construction of the Fujian Free Trade Zone and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, advanced manufacturing, finance, logistics and tourism,” he said.

“I hope Fujianese in Hong Kong will explore new platforms while helping their hometowns thrive.”
