The school was set up by Fujian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong in 1951. It now has some 1,200 students and 100 faculties.

The visiting Fujian officials were shown around the campus, learned about its history, watched bands and badminton teams, and rehearsals by the drama clubs. They gave away gifts such as a Guchin (a seven-stringed Chinese instrument), badminton rackets and biographies about great names in Fujian’s history.

You encouraged students to study hard and contribute to the development of Hong Kong and the country.

It is the second time that a Fujian Party chief came to the Fukien Secondary School in four years, following the 2011 visit by Sun Chunlan, which shows that Fujian puts a lot of value to the school and supports its teaching methods, said LAM Kin Wah, the schoool’s principal.

The school has established sister relations with many counterparts in the Chinese mainland, and keeps close contact with many universities. It hopes that You Quan’s visit will create more opportunities for students to travel to mainland for academic communications, he added.
