A delegation led by Fujian’s Party Secretary You Quan reached Macao on June 2 to visit Fujianese in Macao and promote business, Fujian Daily reports.

For hundreds of years, Fujian people have flourished in Macao and built up a good image of which their hometown folks are proud, said You at a welcoming party thrown by local Fujianese.

The development of Fujian can’t be achieved without support from overseas Fujianese, in which he hoped that Fujian people in Macao will play a bigger role, he added.

“Fujian and Macao can deepen their cooperation in finance, tourism, culture, medicine and education. I hope more Macanese enterprises will come to Fujian and invest.”

Local Fujianese were excited by You Quan’s visit and pledged more support for Fujian’s development.

“I’ve always cared about my hometown and feel happy for its achievements. Despite the fact that we are living in Macao, we will do our best to assist Fujian’s development,” said Yan Yanling, chairman of the Association of Fujian People in Macao.
