You Quan, Party Secretary of Fujian province, met with Edmund Ho, former Macao Chief Executive and now vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, in Macao on June 3.

You and some Fujian officials were in a trip to Hong Kong and Macao to visit local Fujianese as well as promote Fujian businesses.

Fujian and Macao have maintained close contacts, and Macao’s sound economic and social environment depends upon the support of Fujianese immigrants, said Ho, who added that Macao will increase cooperation with Fujian to help its economy thrive.

Ho is an old friend of Fujian who cares about Fujian’s development and pushes for cooperation and communications, said You.

Fujian will improve cooperation mechanisms with Macao and make them a vital platform for Fujian’s international cooperation and opening-up, he said.
