Chatting with Fujian immigrants in Macao makes him feel at home again, You Quan, Party Secretary of Fujian, said on June 3.

You and Fujian officials went to Hong Kong and Macao this week to visit local Fujianese and promote Fujian’s business.

They went to the Association of Fujian People in Macao on Wednesday morning and interacted with folks there.

Since its establishment in 1989, the association has facilitated Fujian immigrants to involve in Macao’s development. Now there are about 100,000 Fujianese in Macao in every walk of life, said Yan Yanling, the association’s chairman.

You Quan said Macao has undergone tremendous change since he came a decade ago; and local Fujianese’ contributions can’t be neglected.

“On behalf of 38 million people in Fujian I came to Macao to visit you all. I hope everybody will continue to support the work of Macao’s government,” he said.

“You are welcome to go back to your homes to visit relatives and friends, and look for new business opportunities.”

You toured some historical sites in Macao in the afternoon and then met with Macao Chief Executive Fernando Chui. He will wrap up the trip on Thursday morning.
