Let's take a look of winners of the 2015 Ocean Cup China (Pingtan) International Bicycle Tournament, which was held in Pingtan on June 7, and hear their takeaways on the event.
Hu Zhe, Team Specialized (Winner of men's road elite)
The 22-year-old pro from Nanjing, Jiangsu province was the champion of men's mountain elite. This year he proved to be an all-around player by bagging the gold medal of the men's road elite.
“I am happy to put on the yellow shirt again in Pingtan,” he said.
Yang Jiajie, Team Quick (Winner of men's mountain elite)
Having participating in “numerous” bicycle races over the past few years, Yang said two host places left him deepest impressed, one being Shenzhen, his hometown, and the other Pingtan.
"It is rare to see such beautiful environment in Pingtan," he said.
Chen Long, Team Alston China (Winner of men's mountain amateur)
Entering the race as the reigning champion of the men's mountain amateur last year, Chen made sure that his name was once again on the top of the winner's list.
“I didn't see this coming,” he said. “It certainly feels great. I am crazy about cycling and it is always my dream to ride in different places.”
Zhou Keqiang, Team Alston China (Winner of men's road amateur)
Zhou showed his talent as he not only won the men's road amateur, but also the third place at the men's mountain elite. He attributed the results to the attendance of his grandfather.
“I will give my trophies to him, who rooted for me all the way,” he said.
Li Haiyan (Winner of women's mountain amateur)
At first glimpse, Li Haiyan, an office worker, is not the type of woman who is into sports. And she actually didn't start cycling until two years ago.
“Winning the championship “is an ‘amazing accident' as I call it. It is a good opportunity to compete against so many top players,” she said.
