Chen Huacheng is known for setting up a self-service stall selling farm products at two yuan for a fixed portion.
He never attends to the business himself and all transactions are based on trust. Most customers , like Chen, are shipyard workers.
The business thrived without cheating over the past two months, according to media reports.
Chen’s creative operation mode, based on mutual trust, matches the integrity concept that Sesame Credit has always been advocating, and leads to his award as a Sesame Credit ambassador, said an employee of Alibaba.
Background
Sesame Credit generates credit scores based on the online behavior of consumers and small businesses on Alibaba’s Taobao (consumer-to-consumer) and Tmall (business-to-consumer) marketplaces.
There are more than 300 million real-name registered users and 37 million small businesses on Alababa’s platforms. Data collected include web pages users visit, goods they purchase, and payment histories.
Sesame Credit also obtains user data from partners, public agencies, financial institutions, and various types of merchants, according to the company.
