As the new semester gets underway this month, the principal of a primary school in the city of Jinjiang, Fujian province, has posted a traffic safety warning on the school's WeChat account to remind people of the importance of student safety. It has gotten some positive feedback quite quickly from the public who then spread out the words on WeChat's "Moments" getting a lot of response.
Cai Zhengwei, the principal of the Chengming Primary School, wrote, "Dear uncles and aunts, won't you please slow down and make way for us," from the viewpoint of a child, and attached the two photos, one of a road sign at the school and another of students in their uniforms, to ask for the public to drive slowly when going by the school.
One parent who forwarded the plea, said, "This is very considerate and we all agree that the safety of children should be taken seriously by every one of us."
In addition to getting praise from parents, the plea also got the support of a flower shop near the school, whose owner will offer free potted plants for those who forwarded the message and got "Like" responses, meaning "I like it". The Jinjiang Bicycle Association also contacted Cai to say that they will have volunteers to help students cross the road and control traffic around the school.
