According to the Xiamen Municipal Commission of Urban Planning, the city plans to invest 500 million yuan ($786,500) to build an iconic world-class music center on the scenic coastal Huandao Road.
Covering a land area of 4.7 hectares and facing the sea, the newly planned Xiamen Music Center will be built near the Hulishan Fortress and the Xiamen University College of the Arts.
The music center will consist of a 1,500-seat symphony hall, a 200-seat indoor concert hall, an art gallery, a 200-seat art classroom, and other musical and cultural supporting facilities.
The center is expected to become an iconic landmark on Huandao Road, and be capable of holding world-class music festivals and shows.
Currently, the project is seeking a design scheme from the public.
