A two-headed fire engine recently appeared in Fuzhou, Fujian province, Hxnews.com reported on Oct 27.

The new vehicle, the first of it kind in the province, first served for the National Youth Games in Fuzhou. It will later be used by the Jinxiang fire brigade.

Equipped with a driving engine on both ends, the unique design allows the truck to reverse without turning around, giving it an advantage in cramped lanes.

Fuzhou is a city with many old residential areas and narrow lanes where fire engines have difficulty reaching and turning around. The new vehicle can help improve the efficiency of fire fighters.

In addition, the truck has a sprinkler system with 24 sprinklers scattered around the truck, including the driving cabs, ceiling, the top of fuel tank and wheels, to prevent fires in the vehicle.

There are less than 10 such fire engines in Asia with prices ranging from 8 million yuan ($1.26 million) to 10 million yuan for standard equipment.
