Xiamen Airlines will open a route between Fuzhou city in Fujian province and Sydney on Nov 29.
The route will take nine hours from Fuzhou to Sydney and enable passengers to reach Australia directly. Previously, they had to transfer flights in Guangzhou, Shanghai or Hong Kong.
According to Australia's regulations, meat and related products, vegetables and fruits are prohibited from entering the country. Anyone bringing in the prohibited goods without an application will face a fine of 360 yuan ($56.35). In particularly serious cases, violators will be fined over 66,000 Australian dollars and even given a 10-year jail sentence.
