Four provincial literary and art associations have set up studios in Beigang village in Pingtan, Fujian province.

The four associations are Fujian Writers Association, Fujian Calligraphers Association, Fujian Artists Association and Fujian Photographers Association.

Zhang Zuoxing, Party chief of the Fujian Federation of Literary and Art Circles, attended an unveiling ceremony for the new studios on June 22 and gave a speech.

He said he hoped Pingtan could take full advantage of the four studios to attract more writers and artists to the city, and give full play to its geographical advantage as the closest city on the mainland to Taiwan to further cultural exchanges with artists on the other side of the Taiwan Strait.

Zhang Zhaomin, Party chief of Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, pledged that Pingtan would seize the chance offered by the opening of the new studios to further the development of the city’s cultural scene.

Pingtan shall put more efforts into the creation of more fine literature and art works based on local cultural connotations, he said.

Beigang village, formerly a rustic fishing village, has been transformed into a hit tourist destination in recent years. With arrival of the studios, the village is expected to embrace its new development momentum.
