A government delegation from Santa Catarina, a state in the southwestern part of Brazil, paid a visit to Pingtan, Fujian province on August 2, to seek cooperation opportunities with the Chinese island city.

The delegation went on field trips to relevant locations including the Cross-Straits Express Center, the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone planning pavilion, Yuandang'ao beach and Haitan Ancient City.

After getting to know Pingtan's latest development status and future plans, Marcelo Trevizani, head of the delegation, expressed his eagerness to cooperate with Pingtan at the concluding conference.

He said Santa Catarina and Pingtan share a lot in common, and could explore cooperation in the sectors of tourism, education and e-commerce.

Lin Wenyao, director of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone administrative committee, extended a warm welcome to the guests from afar.

Brazil is a beautiful country and has a long history of communication and cooperation with China. Pingtan and Santa Catarina have broad cooperative prospects in the fields of tourism, education, culture and sports, Lin said.

He also hoped both sides will use the visit to strengthen communication and exchanges, and promote cooperation on the basis of mutual benefit.
