Originated in Southeast's Fujian province, Nanyin is one of the oldest musical forms in China and has been listed in UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2009.
Xiamen Nanyue Troupe from the port city of Xiamen in the province stages more than 200 Nanyin performances annually to promote the old music. In addition to the classic songs, the troupe also creates new Nanyin works.
