The Cross-Straits Forestry Exposition is currently underway in Sanming city in Southeast China's Fujian province.
The expo, which celebrates its thirteenth edition this year, has attracted the participation of 558 enterprises and more than 3,000 exhibitors from the mainland and Taiwan.
Over 3,000 varieties of forestry and agriculture products, ranging from vegetables, flowers, fruits to bamboo handicrafts, are on display at the expo.
It is estimated that 106 contracts worth roughly 15 billion yuan ( $2.26 billion)are expected to be reached, with the content expanded from forestry to industries such as agro-product processing, e-commerce, biomaterial and elderly nursing.
The highlight of the expo is cross-Straits cooperation, as 40 cross-Straits experts and entrepreneurs in the forestry industry held in-depth communication and exchanges in promoting ecological forestry civilization.
Professor Zhao Weichen from Taiwan's National Chiayi University suggested that the mainland and Taiwan should strengthen cooperation in handling the problems people commonly face, such as global warming and carrying out research on the forest’s future development.
First held in 2005, the expo is jointly sponsored by State Forestry Administration and Fujian provincial government and aims to enhance cooperation between the mainland and Taiwan in the forestry industry.
