China is gradually developing the ecology of the internet of things, an official of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said at the China Internet of Things Conference 2017 in Fuzhou, Fujian province, on Thursday.

Zhu Wan, deputy director of informatization and software service department of the ministry, said the integration of the internet of things and various industries, such as retailing, transportation, logistics, environmental protection and healthcare, has accelerated in recent years, and an industrial system of the internet of things is gradually forming in China.

The overall scale of the internet of things industry has increased from 170 billion yuan ($26 billion) in 2009 to 930 billion yuan in 2016. But the overall development level of the internet of things in China still lags behind that in developed countries.

In the next stage the ministry will further promote the development of key technologies for the internet of things, as well as cultivate a batch of good enterprises in this field. In addition, the ministry will pay great attention to a top-level design for the security of the internet of things, and establish a pre-warning, supervision and service mechanism to improve information security.
